2,600 New Homes Approved in San Francisco

A massive new development at the former site of a polluting power plant is moving forward in the City by the Bay.

"Nearly a decade ago, San Francisco shut down a dated and dirty waterfront power plant with plans to converting [sic] the land into new homes and businesses," reports Adam Brinklow. "That goal is now almost a reality after the SF Planning Commission exercised its own power to usher the redevelopment forward Thursday."

The Potrero Power Station Mixed-Use Project [pdf] would add 2,600 homes and 1.8 million square feet of commercial space.

Developer Associate Capital expects the project to take 16 years. As documented in an article by Brinklow from December, the Potrero Power Station redevelopment is the fourth largest plan currently in the development pipeline in the notoriously slow-building city.
