Chicago is late to the game on all-door bus boarding, but that will change this summer.

Mary Wisniewski reports that the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is planning an all-door bus boarding pilot for this summer on two bus routes on the South Side of Chicago.
"The six-month test is part of a larger CTA plan to improve bus service, which includes creating priority lanes on busy routes so buses can get through traffic faster (see previous coverage of Chicago's bus Priority Zones program here and here). Bus ridership has dropped almost 25% since 2012, a decline the agency blames in part on the rise in ride-share," according to Wisniewski.
CTA spokesperson Brian Steele is quoted in the article remarking on the unprecedented nature of the pilot. Wisnieski also includes a lot more detail on the routes that will be the all-door building treatment., and how the all-door boarding system works.
