Denver Transit Plan Cut $1 Billion

Weakness in the region's economy is forcing the Regional Transit District to cut $1 billion, shortening a number of rail lines planned for the metro area.

"The revised plan that RTD general manager Cal Marsella presented to the agency's board of directors Tuesday night still carries a $4.2 billion price tag. But it calls for shortening a number of rail lines planned for the metro area... A proposed west corridor light-rail line would terminate at the Federal Center near Union Boulevard and U.S. 6, rather than continuing to the Jefferson County administration and courts center in Golden."
