Citing complications from the coronavirus pandemic, the U.S. Census Bureau is seeking a 120-day delay in concluding the Census process, with potential consequences lasting into 2021.

Mike Schneider reports for the Associated Press that the Trump administration is seeking a delay of the 2020 Census, delaying the launch of field operations, already delayed in March, further back to June. The Trump administration would also like to push the conclusion of Census operations back from July to August, potentially also delaying the state-level process of Congressional redistricting.
Michael Wines provides additional news coverage of the potential delay in the Census for the New York Times. "In a news release, the bureau said it would ask that delivery of the final census figures be postponed to April 30, 120 days beyond the existing Dec. 31 deadline. That would mean that state legislatures would get final population figures for drawing new maps as late as July 31, 2021. Delivery of that data normally is completed by the end of March."
