California High Speed Rail Authority approves Southern California effort to apply for a maglev train to connect LA and Riverside.

A local Los Angeles to Riverside train using magnetic levitation gets a boost as the California High Speed Rail Authority approves a coalition of local Southern California governments to apply for federal funds to build the system.The system would include approximately 100 miles of elevated guideways at speeds up to 240 mph from Los Angeles International Airport to Riverside. At issue is whether this proposal would supercede a state effort to build a state-wide San Diego to Sacramento system.
