Inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places could bring federal dollars for Neal Deal homesteads.

"Through the National Industrial Recovery Act, the government set aside $25 million to put 25,000 poor families on farms in new, self-sustaining homestead communities where none had stood before. This fall, with the help of historians in Morgantown and Charleston, one community will seek recognition from the state, then inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places."
