Upstate New York's Population Stagnates

The first of a series of reports analyzing population and migration data for the Upstate New York region probes the implications of the area's stagnant growth.

In the first of a series of Brookings reports on the region, an analysis of population and migration data for Upstate New York shows that while the country as a whole was growing, Upstate New York stagnated. According to the report, the region also has a greater percentage of senior citizens and corrections inmates than the rest of the nation, raising troubling implications for Upstates economic future.
