A reminder of the consequences of the pandemic on transit operations, in this case with an example of a highly used private bus service in New Jersey.

"DeCamp Bus Lines of Montclair, the oldest private bus company in the state [of New jersey], is suspending all service beginning Friday at midnight due to 'the sustained effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,'" according to an article by Julia Martin.
"The company, which carried between 6,500 and 7,000 commuters a day into New York City before the pandemic hit, has been serving fewer than 400 a day since resuming limited service in June, according to CEO Jonathan DeCamp."
DeCamp, who is the sixth generation in his family to run the business, which was founded as a stagecoach company in 1870, also expresses confidence that the company will be able to reinstate when commuters begin returning to normal travel patters.
According to DeCamo, "the company received a small PPP loan early in the pandemic designed to keep the company afloat for eight weeks. Seventeen weeks later, he is hoping Congress will pass the Heroes Act, which would include 10 billion to aid the motorcoach industry."
