Developers of the biggest subdivision ever proposed in a small Vermont town are proposing to change an ordinance designed to slow growth.
Developers of the biggest subdivision ever proposed in Williston, VT "want the town to change an ordinance that could force them to extend construction over more than two decades. Preliminary plans for Foxwood Village call for 239 housing units and 200,000 square feet of retail and office space....under a town ordinance, construction would be spread out over more than 25 years. The developers want to complete the project in no more a decade. The ordinance requires new developments to be built over time and limits the total new housing units constructed each year. The current quota is 65 units a year. The provision was added to prevent the housing quota from being used up years in advance."
