Today's active-adult communities are beginning to embrace backpacks andbaby carriages. They're still age-restricted. But instead of large,isolated communities at the edges of the Valley, many are now smallerand built smack dab in the middle of master-planned developmentsdesigned for all ages... "Many baby boomers, although fitting the 55-or-older age requirement, don't want to live in 'retirement' communities, said Jay Butler, director of the Arizona Real Estate Center at Arizona State University. They also don't want to isolate themselves from shopping and other activities."
