Detroit-Area I-275 Project Set to Start Work in July

The Michigan Department of Transportation is set to begin work on a four-year, $257 million project that will repair concrete, replace culverts, and modernize infrastructure along a 24-mile corridor of Interstate 275. As reported by Shelby Tankersley on Hometownlife.com, "[w]ork is scheduled to start in July and will continue through November" of this year. "Joggers and cyclists can also expect the I-275 Metro Trail, which runs alongside the interstate, to close at M-14 and Schoolcraft for a short time this summer" as those bridges are repaired.

The project will affect communities in the Detroit metro area and will be funded through a $3.5 billion bond initiated by Governor Gretchen Whitmer last year. Whitmer's plan funded more than a hundred road projects and "nearly double[d] the amount of money available to fix roads over the next five years."
