Developers soon will have a much more difficult time trying to pack future high-rises along beaches in Broward County, FL, and the Intracoastal Waterway.
Concerned that the barrier island is becoming overdeveloped, Broward County Commissioners on October 14 began to exert more control over what is built. The changes were welcomed by residents who have been fighting local governments to stop a growing list of developments. City governments are angry because control over development along the 23-mile stretch of shoreline has long rested with them.
