Pasadena has become a model for many communities of how to increase quality of life for residents. Whether through providing a good school system or a pleasant commercial environment the city of Pasadena seems to know how to address community concerns. The one thing that has eluded the City is how to mitigate growing disquiet revolving around the 710 Freeway extension. With the Pasadena City Council changing its historic pro-freeway stance and the recent findings that South Pasadena has the power to veto the freeway--the 710's future appears to be falling apart. Metro Investment Report interviews Pasadena's Mayor Bill Bogaard about his thoughts on the future of the freeway, his vision for alternative transit programs, and how Pasadena's power company may react to the open market.
