"The controversy about the Housing Element of the General Plan makes me realize just how protected some of us long-time homeowners are from the realities of trying to make it as a young person or an immigrant in San Francisco... We have a housing crisis in part because people move here but we refuse to add enough to the housing to accommodate them. We all compete with each other to live here, and inevitably those with more money win...
