Watch: Even With Bike Lanes, 'Right Hooks' Are a Risk

An eight-minute video explains the importance of bike lanes for traffic safety and illustrates some of the risks for people on bikes even with higher-quality bike lane infrastructure in place.

"While bike lanes are substantially safer than sharing a road with vehicles, they still aren't perfect," according to a recent video by Cheddar. "And one flaw in particular can often be fatal."

The design flaw is in question causes the "infamous right hook crash," but a lot more on the importance of bike lanes to traffic safety and the details of bike lane design are included in the video. Helpful animations are included to illustrate the risks of biking in traffic—with or without bike lanes.
