A session at the recent ULI conference addresses the issue of what women really want in neighborhoods, homes and community life.
"Women, according to the panel members, are looking for communities designed for 'social interaction and convenience.'... According to an EDAW survey cited by McCann, women put the surrounding community and proximity to work at the top of the list in deciding on a home purchase -- higher than the price of the home. Here is what the survey found were the top four pluses for women in a home search: access to grocery stores; good parks; choice of public transportation; quality of landscape design."
