Some of the strictest anti-growth initiatives in the nation are headed for the November ballot in the Tri-Valley area of Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
A series of strict land use initiatives is headed for the November ballot in Livermore, Danville and Pleasanton. In Alameda County the Sierra Club wants create an urban boundary around the Tri-Valley that would prevent 12,500 homes from being built in North Livermore; county planners have created a plan which creates the urban boundary, but allows the residential development. In Danville, the Citizens Alliance for Public Planning is proposing an urban growth boundary and voter approval of any development with more than 10 houses. Several strict anti-growth measures were voted down in the sprawling Tri-Valley area of Alameda and Contra Costa County last year.
