Many residents of Orlando's Parramore neighborhood are at risk of being left behind by current redevelopment efforts.
City Leaders in Orlando, Florida are touting the new development in the city's Parramore neighborhood as a hopeful indication for the area's future. Yet, many of the area's present residents are apparently excluded from that future. Even with affordable housing set-asides for individuals earning around $16,000 a year, only one Parramore resident has qualified to live in the new CityView Apartment complex because of a myriad of stringent requirements. Supporters of the redevelopment argue that the neighborhood needs to include higher quality housing and middle- and upper-income residents if it is to become a better community.
