A regional visioning project has drawn about 2000 people to workshops to plan the future of the Sacramento region, in California.
The Sacramento Region Blueprint Project "aims to identify a smarter way for the entire six-county region to develop in order to accommodate the 1.7 million new residents expected by 2050." Even the organizers, the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) and the nonprofit Valley Vision, were surprised by the turnout and strong interest. New technologies have helped participants to not only see the future results of their development choices, but to take the discussion beyond ideology.
