Calgary's Transportation Plan Needs Updating

City hall is re-opening the thorny issue of transportation planning in an election year.

Calgary's GO Plan, completed almost ten years ago, was "supposed to act as a blueprint for the city's transportation development for the following 30 years." But Calgary's unexpected growth has not had a proportional increase in transportation dollars, and now city hall is "faced with traffic gridlock and angry motorists." Civic leaders are cautious about raising expectations and making promises that they cannot keep.
