Los Angeles International Airport $112 milion beautification efforts are facing criticism and opponents say the money could have been better used to alleviate serious problems like traffic congestion.

A $112 million beautification project for Los Angeles International Airport approved last year is facing renewedcriticism as construction begins in time for the Democratic National Convention in August. Opponents say that the beautification plan which calls for palm trees and columns ignores structure for form and the money could have been better used to alleviate serious problems like traffic congestion. The architect says he is confident that once completed, the criticism will disappear and the beautification efforts will be considered as city landmarks.
