Dr. David Suzuki presents new environmental report to conference of Canadian municipal and federal leaders
While Canadians have strong environmental values, they are often not reflected in public policy actions, a new report presented at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' conference on sustainable communities suggests. Released by the David Suzuki Foundation, the report attempts to link Canada's new deal for cities to notions of sustainability. It recommends that new infrastructure funds should be targetted to projects that limit additional urban sprawl. It also urges elected officials to divert a portion of gas tax revenues toward public transit and to expand funding for renewable energy sources.
