To increase alumni participation (and giving) universities are investing in upscale, large-scale centers to prime the donation pump.
More campuses are providing state of the art homes for expandng alumni programming in response to shrinking state support and edowments. New center construction of up to 43 thousand square feet is not uncommon. "The alumni center is now the facility du jour across campuses nationwide. Many schools are jumping on the trend, while alumni, excited about their new campus "homes," are busy writing checks and planning visits to their alma maters."
