Michigan’s Draft Five-Year Transportation Plan Includes $10.9 Billion for Highway Projects

Michigan legislators are also considering $3.7 billion for the state’s Public Transportation Program over the next five years.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) recently revealed its draft Five-Year Transportation Program (5YTP). The 5YTP is open for public comment from August 7 until September 8.

According to an article published by WXYZ, the 5FYTP for 2024-2028 focuses on three areas: 1) equality and inclusion, 2) transportation resiliency, and 3) better pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, in accordance with MDOT's Complete Streets program.

According to a press release from MDOT, the 5FYTP includes $10.9 billion for Highway Program projects and $3.7 billion for the Public Transportation Program, among other expenditures.

Projects proposed by the plan are searchable on an interactive map.
