Development in Rural Areas Excludes Horses

New developments in a formerly rural area do not include horse trails

Longtime residents of Lehi, UT used to be able to ride horses straight from home. Now, they have to trailer the horse and drive out of town. As more and more subdivisions fill formerly rural land, horse riders have fewer and fewer options. The increased traffic on the roads has made the shoulders too dangerous. The historic Old West downtown has no places to tie up. And although the city's master plan provides for trails, many of them are paved blacktop unsuitable for horses. Only one mile of equestrian friendly trail exists, although future trails could be built by the city and possibly developers.
