Regional planners in southeastern Wisconsin are undertaking what may be the first regional technology planning effort in the nation.
Regional planners are undertaking what appears to be a first-ever regional telecommunications planning effort for southeastern Wisconsin: "The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission approved a $715,000, two-year study to recommend locations of cellular phone towers and lay out a strategy for installing fiber-optic lines for data and video transmission services throughout the metropolitan area... the current reality of many communities in the region lacking access to high-speed Internet, video and data transmissions, collectively known as broadband services, is another reason behind the plan."
