EMBARK, Oklahoma City’s public transit agency, announced it will offer free fares on the city’s new bus rapid transit (BRT) line, streetcar, bike share system, and buses for part of December as a way to encourage residents to become familiar with the new RAPID NW service, which “is intended to improve connection to OKC's metro while reducing traffic downtown, officials say, through high-frequency service and dedicated bus lanes.”
Jessie Christopher Smith reports on the story for The Oklahoman, noting that fare collection will resume on January 2, 2024. Smith provides a list of EMNARK’s other reduced price options. “In addition, EMBARK announced a half-price sale on all fixed-route bus, RAPID, streetcar and Spokies passes bought Dec. 1-9, including weekly, monthly and annual passes.”
