"It used to be that immigrants first settled in the city before working their way up the socio-economic ladder and buying themselves a nice split-level ranch in the suburbia." Today, however, many new immigrants move directly into areas that are a hybrid of a traditional ethnic enclave and a typical suburb - an 'ethnoburb'.
