"Critics are outraged by the proposed design for the New Acropolis Museum in Athens, which they believe will fatally compromise the setting of the Parthenon. The issue has become so heated that it is thought to have contributed to the downfall of the Greek Government at last weekend's election.Speaking from the US, Greek-born mathematician and author Nikos Salingaros noted that "it was in time to influence the Greek elections; though we don't yet know to what extent this single project contributed to [the government's] downfall".Many fear that the museum's assertive architecture creates a dangerous precedent for such a sensitive site.
