Minnesota Public Radio interviews Professor Ann Markusen about her research analyzing the economic impact of artists.
The Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs released a report last year, The Artistic Dividend: The Art's Hidden Contribution to Regional Development, which examines the role played by arts and culture in Minnesota's Twin Cities area and elsewhere. The Minnesota Public Radio Web site has posted a March 4 interview with the report's author. The Twin Cities rank high in a new University of Minnesota study analyzing the economic impact of artists. "The study looks at the concentration of artists in the 29 largest metro areas in the United States. Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco topped the list, while the Minneapolis-St. Paul area was ranked eighth."
