President Abraham Lincoln could soon be honored with his very own theme park.
Watch out Mickey Mouse--Abe Lincoln could be ready to give you a run for your money. In a debate about historical integrity versus potential tourist dollars, residents and developers in Honest Abe's namesake, Lincoln, IL, are considering the construction of a theme park to honor the nation's 16th president. Civil war displays and replicas of the Gettysburg Address would be accompanied by water slides, bumper cars, and miniature golf. Local residents and corporate boosters envision a national and international tourist destination that could provide a boon to the economically depressed town. Others, however, fear the degradation of the president's legacy.
