Businesses impacted by light rail construction can still apply for grants to make up for lost revenue.

In an article for KTAR, Kevin Stone highlights a Phoenix grant program that seeks to support small businesses impacted by Valley Metro light rail construction.
“The Small Business Financial Assistance Program (SBFAP), a partnership between Valley Metro and the city of Phoenix, has provided more than 200 grants totaling over $1 million since launching in 2021,” Stone explains.
Businesses with 15 or fewer employees and revenue under $750,000 per year are eligible to apply. “Construction on Valley Metro’s South Central Extension/Downtown Hub started in 2019 and is expected to be finished in 2025. The project is adding about 5.5 miles of light rail track, with eight stations, along Central Avenue between downtown Phoenix and Baseline Road.”
