New research on speed humps shows that the devices significantly reduce the rate of child injuries and deaths.
The controversy over speed humps on Bay Area streets has been resurrected by an Oakland pediatrician who released a study saying the traffic safety devices significantly reduce the rate of child injuries and deaths.... The four-year study, published in the April issue of the American Journal of Public Health, concludes that children living within one block of a speed hump are 50 to 60 percent less likely to be injured by a car, compared to children whose streets don't have the bumps.
