As part of Cleveland's efforts to make its roadways pedestrian-friendly, two lanes of an underused bridge will be converted to walkways so that pedestrians can enjoy spectacular views.
Cleveland is taking a major step toward becoming a friendlier place to stroll around today with construction set to start on a parklike walkway across the Detroit-Superior (Veterans Me morial) Bridge.Over the next four months, the underused six-lane bridge linking downtown to Ohio City will be converted to a four-lane road to free up more space for walkers, joggers and bicyclistsA new, 20-foot-wide promenade will replace the skinny sidewalk on the north side to make it easier for people to leisurely enjoy spectacular views of the Flats, Lake Erie and the city skyline from 120 feet above the Cuyahoga River.
