Prince George's County revisits police and fire adequate public facilitites standards.
Prince George's County residents, concerned about response times for fire and rescue services in fast-developing areas, are asking their local officials to revise the county adequate public facilitites ordinance. Although the ordinance requires schools, police, water and sewer, parks, roads, fire and EMS facilities to pass adequate facility requirements before construction can start, there is increasing public interest in linking facilities adeqaucy to the actual capacity to deliver these services. "'The current tests for police and fire don't make any sense. It's not tied into any staffing, which is critical," said County Councilman Douglas J.J. Peters (D-Dist. 4) of Bowie.'"
