Downtown Los Angeles is drawing the interest of dot-coms looking for lower rents.
Downtown's office space (about $2 per square foot) is a bargain for tech companies compared to prices on LA's Westside. As venture capital has dried up in the last six months, dot-coms are increasing moving into downtown. One company "found a space on Wilshire Boulevard for $1.50 a square foot, including furniture. It moved in three weeks ago, sharing elevators with the likes of engineering firm Dames & Moore and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. To personalize its space, Full Moon bought two dozen scooters to tool around the patio and installed a basketball court and hallway golf course."
