Atlanta's new development is increasingly focused on rail stations around the city's Perimeter.
"Even with the area's office vacancy rates hovering at nearly 30 percent, Atlanta's biggest developers have placed their bets on the Perimeter.... The buildings won't resemble the sprawling corporate campuses with long, tree-lined parkways that once defined the Perimeter. Instead, plans call for city-style towers to fill empty spaces like teeth completing a smile. Most of the new development is planned near the Dunwoody and Sandy Springs MARTA stations. Public transit, new sidewalks and the area's increasingly dense retail-housing-office mix could tip the Perimeter to almost urban what tenants sought to escape when they moved from downtown, Midtown and Buckhead years ago."
