A New Tunnel For Los Angeles?

Los Angeles County is considering funding a study for a tunnel through the San Gabriel Mountains to connect North County cities with downtown L.A.

A study to be conducted by Los Angeles County engineers may show that a six-lane tunnel/toll road with room for a high-speed train is now feasible. The County expects opposition from established communities on the south side of the mountains, but claims that this tunnel could absorb a substantial amount of southbound commuter traffic.
