"Its soils are contaminated, with foundations and other remnants of its industrial past littering the landscape. The Valley's streets are largely cut off, with poor connections in almost every direction...several years from now, this huge tract of vacant industrial land that once housed the Milwaukee Road railroad shops will be transformed into a stunning public green space that recycles stormwater. Adjacent to the park, a 70-acre light industrial park will begin to take shape by 2006, bringing people and jobs to the west end of the Menomonee Valley."
