Nevada City, a historic mining center in California's Gold Country, is moving to preserve scenic views and amenities in its immediate vicinity. Sugar Loaf Mountain, which stands above the historic Gold Rush town, will be protected for public use under a planned open-space easement. Reporter Becky Trout covers growth in Nevada County for the Union.
