I-75 expansion continues to roil residents of Oakland County, Michigan.
"A group of residents is fighting the proposed Interstate 75 interchange at Long Lake, saying it is a waste of taxpayer money and would bring unnecessary traffic into their neighborhoods. The coalition of residents, war veterans and family members of people buried at nearby White Chapel cemetery is recruiting people to join the fight against the road project.
Eric Hunt, an attorney and resident of the I-75 and Long Lake area, said the interchange will create more traffic on Long Lake Road near his subdivision. And the city hasnt made a good case for building it, he said. 'We dont need it, and we think its a waste of taxpayer dollars,' Hunt said. The project, with an estimated $40 million price tag, could be years away because of a lack of state funding for it.
