"Katz, director of the metropolitan policy center at the Washington think tank, is working with the regional council and the Civic Council of top business executives on a report outlining Kansas City's competitiveness and challenges compared with other metropolitan areas...In terms of growth pattern, Kansas City is one of the nation's kings of sprawl. A higher-than-average proportion of jobs are more than 10 miles from the city's center."
