In a city notable for both its abundant wealth and shocking poverty, Mayor Gavin Newsom is hoping a new program based on first-hand polling will direct the poor to city services while exposing gaps in service coverage. Seeking to "bring City Hall out to the communities," Mayor Newsom believes that by working with troubled areas, San Francisco can ease the growing trend towards violence in the city.
