Chicago Shows the World How Density is Done

Planners from all over the world 'drooled' over Chicago's density, mixed-use character and functional transit system, as the annual New Urbanist Conference convened this past weekend.

"Nearly 1,400 planners, architects, developers and designers from around the world descended on Chicago with one goal in mind: to change radically the way our world looks, feels and works." Coming from as far as Europe and Australia, conference participants attended seminars on addressing current problems with planning, and took field trips around the city. "Participants debated the merits of arcane zoning code details and decried the difficulties of getting New Urbanist projects financed, approved and built."
