For rural America, the changing economy inevitably leads to the same problems: unemployment, population loss, boredom, and decay. But according to the Census Bureau, 'micropolises' are springing up across the nation as access brings new life to struggling areas. Others are quick to point out that having a Wal-Mart and tract homes, while better than nothing, may not be the greatest improvement.
