Major League Baseball is coming to one of six North American cities, and each proposal reflects a different aspect of both urban and suburban communities' constant push for prominence.

While baseball officials split between a stadium at Dulles Airport in Loudon County and one in Benjamin Banneker Park in Washington DC, the fight for the Montreal castaways could cost taxpayers up to $400 million. While new stadiums will create their own financial and social problems, the proposals themselves speak of larger trends towards suburban population centers like Northern Virginia.
