Several new development projects look to New Urbanism for inspiration.
"Daniel K. Slone sees a significant shift...new urbanism or at least some of its concepts are starting to draw market traction in Richmond's suburbs...Slone also serves as the national counsel to the Congress for the New Urbanism, the Seaside Institute and the U.S. Green Building Council, nonprofit organizations that promote new urbanism or environmentally sensitive development.
David Anderson [says] he's heard from developers and landowners who are excited about new urbanism, as well as others who think it might help improve regional cooperation and planning.
Anderson also said he's heard from local officials who are interested in revising development codes to remove impediments to new urbanism. He said it's vital for them to consult with experts rather than start making changes on their own."
