"Supporters of the land swap argued that it would end a four-year public effort to obtain land next to historic Stranahan House and would have stopped a 38-story tower next to it. But the Central Beach Alliance members, who are typically sympathetic to the cause of historic preservation, didn't want a 24-story high rise on the beach to settle the deal."
