Rail Considered For Critical NYC Link

Plans for upgrading a critical but aging Hudson River bridge could include a passenger rail link.

A passenger rail line needs to be part of the strategy for replacing the aging Tappan Zee Bridge, a critical link to New York City for thousands of upstate motorists, state Transportation Commissioner Joseph Boardman said Thursday....Boardman's statement appears to greatly raise the likelihood that a rail line, which officially remains only one of several potential transit options for upgrading the trans-Hudson River bridge, will be part of the eventual plan for revamping or replacing the antiquated 3.1-mile structure."
