Free Bike Parking Facilty Opens In Denver

"Denver's upscale Cherry Creek North shopping district implemented paid parking this week in an effort to improve access for shoppers and encourage employees to take alternative modes of transportation to work. One such mode is cycling -- the district sits just off the much famed Cherry Creek Bike Trail and is home to Colorado's first free bike parking facility, The Cherry Creek Bike Rack. Uniquely financed in part through grants, a developer and merchants in the area, The Bike Rack is one of "the first of its kind nationally, said Patrick McCormick, spokesman for the League of American Bicyclists, a Washington, D.C., nonprofit that promotes biking."
